A simple trick to cleaning the microwave without any synthetic soaps or cleaners is to fill an open container with water and microwave it for about 5 minutes — long enough to get it to steam for a while. The steam will loosen the dried-on gunk so all you have to do is wipe it off. If you put lemon zest in the water it will make the microwave smell good. And since the water doesn’t have any chemicals or anything of that nature in it, you can reuse it for whatever.
